Flood Simulation Exercise well underway. Since this morning the various sub committees have been in session and preparations are now in place in the event of pending flooding emergency.

Flood Simulation Exercise
The Flood Simulation Exercise is now underway in the Cayo District.The Cayo Emergency Operations Committee activated its Operation Center at 7:00am this morning.

Several Simulated scenarios have since been forwarded to the committee in order to observe what their mode of action or response would be.The activity continues throughout the course of the day.

Relief & Supplies Training San Pedro
The San Pedro District Emergency Committee held a Relief and Supplies Management Training on the 26th January at the Town Council Conference Room. The respective training was in keeping with NEMO’s mandate to ensure that Public Officers from that respective committee becomes cognizant with it’s roles and responsibilities during an emergency.

NEMO Donates Relief Supplies to Salvador
Belize was lucky to be spared from any damages delivered by Hurricane Ida earlier this month but the same cannot be said for our Central American neighbor El Salvador. According to the United Nations, 198 people have been reported dead and 5,759 others are in 64 shelters with as many as 75,000 people affected by Hurricane Ida.

Press Release # 2 TD IDA
NEMO national committees met this afternoon in Belmopan to examine its level of readiness to respond to Tropical Depression IDA. IDA continues moving to the North at 8 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 35 miles per hour.
