NEMO PRESS RELEASE No. 7

 

ALL  CLEAR DECLARED FOR BELIZE AT 7:30  A.M:   Tropical Depression  Alex now  over Yucatan

 

Maximum  sustained  winds were  35  mph  with  higher gusts;  Winds are  expected  drop below tropical storm force winds later today. 

 

There is a flood warning for all rivers of Belize. Current flooding situation are: 

 

Rio Hondo at Blue Creek (La Union), Douglas and San Antonio river levels are rising slowly.

 

New River water levels are rising slowly at Tower Hill and Caledonia.


Macal River Reservoirs levels are below spillway at Chalillo, Mollejon and Vaca.   Levels are normal and rising near Chaa Creek and San Ignacio.  At San Ignacio water level remain above the low lying bridge.


Mopan River near Benque Viejo Town is rising. 

 

Belize River Levels Are Below Bridge And Rising Near Iguana Creek.  On The Crooked Tree Lagoon levels are below the causeway and steady.  At Double Run river levels are rising. Downstream to the Belize River Valley river level will continue to rise slowly. 

 

N       Near Maypen and Double Run levelsare  rising.


Sibun river levels are rising near Jaguar Paw.

 

Mullins River the river level are slowly rising. 

 

North Stann Creek is rising near Middlesex and rising rapidly near Hope Creek. 

 

Kendal on the Sittee River, are rising and below the low level bridge


NEMO Officials continue to remain on alert and monitoring the potential flooding across the country.  NEMO dispatched a Damage Assessment Team to conduct an aerial reconnaissance over the country this morning. In addition, field teams are also on the ground.  The National Met Service will continue to issue weather bulletins.
