The San Pedro District
Emergency Committee held a Relief and Supplies Management Training on the 26th
January at the Town Council Conference Room. The respective training was in
keeping with NEMO’s mandate to ensure that Public Officers from that respective
committee becomes cognizant with it’s roles and responsibilities during an
emergency.
The training was attended
by some 13 participants. The
targeted participants were Public and Private Stakeholders of San Pedro Town
who will be assisting NEMO in times of an emergency/disaster. The participants
expressed their gratitude for the information received as they believe this
will truly help them to be able go about their duties and also become more
comfortable should in the event that Belize be affected by a Disaster
Facilitator for the training was Ms. Ava Pennill from
the Ministry of Human Development. Most of the participants commented that the
training was very effective because, it also offered them, better understanding and also made them
more aware of the different task and roles that the Relief Supplies Management
Committee is mandated with
The District Coordinator for the San Pedro &
Caye Caulker is Ms. Timrose Augustine. Ms. Augustine has already conducted
previous trainings earlier and will continue to sensitize the people of these
islands to ensure that they become prepared in the event that Belize becomes affected
by any disastrous even.
