2009 is well upon us and NEMO is already preparing for the upcoming hurricane season which starts on June 1ST.

With the images still fresh in mind, government’s humanitarian assistance to people affected in the Cayo, Belize, Orange Walk and Corozal  Districts continue to date.

At this time houses are either being repaired, lifted or constructed in Lemonal and Rancho Dolores in the Belize District, Calla Creek and Bullet Tree Falls in the Cayo District  as part of the assistance.  Among the badly affected areas was Douglas in the Orange Walk District that had to be evacuated for several weeks due to contaminated flood waters.

Late last week, almost 90 wooden doors were distributed to residents who were affected by flooding left behind by Tropical Depression #16 this past October.
